La Folie du Docteur Tube

Abel Gance | 1915 | ★★★★½
An egg-headed scientist invents a potent hallucinogenic drug, under the influence of which he, his young assistant, and his two young neighbours and their gentlemen callers soon fall. Needless to say, a good time is had by all, in this delicious experimental short. Employing anamorphic lenses and mirrors to create distortions, Gance brilliantly takes us into the drug-addled minds of his protagonists, creating some quite wonderful imagery as he does so.
